Hi, I’m Chris. I photograph destination weddings and elopements in Costa Rica with a documentary and editorial approach shaped by how weddings actually happen here. From beaches and rainforests to private villas and remote locations, I work with natural light, real timelines, and real conditions to create images that feel honest and unforced.
This is for couples planning intentional celebrations in Costa Rica, whether it’s a full destination wedding or a quiet elopement, who want photography that prioritizes experience, atmosphere, and emotional truth over staged moments.

My Approach to Wedding Photography in Costa Rica
I don’t just document what happens. I photograph what it feels like to be there.
The laughter that catches you off guard. The quiet moments that only the two of you notice. The way a place, the light, and the people around you shape the energy of the day. My approach is rooted in documentary wedding photography, observing without interrupting, letting real moments unfold naturally.
At the same time, I bring a fine art and editorial sensibility to how everything is framed. I pay close attention to light, movement, composition, and environment so the images feel intentional, timeless, and deeply connected to Costa Rica itself.
What this means for you on the wedding day is simple. You don’t have to perform or follow a script. There’s no pressure to pose constantly or think about the camera. You get to be present with each other and with the people who traveled to celebrate with you. I step in gently when guidance helps, especially for portraits, but always in a way that feels natural and unforced.
Chris photographed our elopement in Tamarindo, and the sunset was unreal. He let everything unfold naturally and somehow captured every emotion without ever interrupting the moment. The photos feel honest, intimate, and exactly like us. We couldn’t have imagined a better way to remember that day.”
Suzanne & Tafari
“Chris was amazing. He captured all the beautiful, emotional moments of our wedding without ever making things feel forced. Every single photo feels real and meaningful, and we’re genuinely happy with all of them. Hiring him was one of the best decisions we made.”

Where I Photograph Weddings in Costa Rica
Costa Rica may look small on a map, but travel conditions, weather patterns, and light change significantly from one region to another. Where you choose to get married affects everything, from timelines and guest logistics to how the day flows and how it’s photographed.
As a Costa Rica wedding photographer, I work across the country and help couples plan realistically based on their location, season, and priorities. Some regions are ideal for sunset beach ceremonies, others work better for jungle elopements, mountain views, or full destination wedding weekends.
Below are the main regions where I photograph weddings regularly. Each offers a very different experience and requires a slightly different approach when it comes to planning and photography.
Locations I Cover
Manuel Antonio
Lush jungle, cliffs, and ocean views all in one place. Great for couples who want tropical scenery with easy access to resorts and national parks.

Tamarindo & Guanacaste

Arenal & La Fortuna
Volcano views, rainforest, and hot springs. A strong choice for couples who want dramatic landscapes and cooler temperatures.

Uvita & Dominical
Wild beaches, waterfalls, and dense jungle. More remote, but incredibly scenic.
Places I Know Through Real Weddings
These are the places where real celebrations have unfolded.
From coastal sunsets to rainforest ceremonies, each region on this map reflects weddings I’ve documented firsthand.
If you’re considering one of these areas, I already know the light, the pace, and how the day moves there.
Collections & Pricing
I keep my pricing fully transparent because planning a destination wedding already comes with enough unknowns. All of my Costa Rica wedding photography collections are clearly listed, publicly priced, and designed around how weddings actually unfold here, not hourly limits or surprise add-ons.
Elopement collections start at $1,500, and wedding collections start at $2,000, with options that scale based on the size, pace, and complexity of your celebration.
If you value calm planning, honest coverage, and knowing exactly what you’re investing in from the start, you’ll find everything laid out clearly on the pricing page.

This step is usually where couples decide if we’re the right fit before reaching out, and that’s exactly how it should be.
All-inclusive wedding photography and videography package & bundles
For couples who want both photo and video coverage, I offer combined photography and videography collections. These options work especially well for destination weddings where moments unfold quickly and from multiple perspectives. Bundled coverage keeps the visual story consistent and simplifies planning.

Frequently asked questions
about Costa Rica Wedding Photographers
I don’t just document what happens on a wedding day. I focus on how it feels. The unscripted laughter, the quiet emotions, and the moments that unfold naturally when you’re fully present. My approach combines documentary storytelling with an editorial eye, creating images that feel honest, timeless, and grounded in the real experience of your wedding in Costa Rica.
What this means for you is simple. No stiff posing, no performing for the camera, no pressure to act a certain way. You get to be yourselves while I take care of capturing the story as it unfolds, from intimate elopements to full destination weddings. The questions below cover how I work, what to expect, and how photography fits into planning a wedding in Costa Rica.
Whether you are looking for a Costa Rica Destination Wedding Photographer or wondering about the Costa Rica Destination Wedding Cost, we are here to help.
Where are you based, and do you photograph weddings all over Costa Rica?
I’m based in Costa Rica’s Central Valley and photograph weddings throughout the entire country. From beach weddings in Guanacaste and Tamarindo to rainforest elopements near Arenal, Monteverde, Uvita, and beyond, I travel wherever your story takes place.
After more than 15 years working here, I understand how light, weather, travel times, and access actually work in Costa Rica, not just how they look online.
Do you specialize in destination weddings and elopements?
Yes. Most of my couples are planning their wedding or elopement from abroad. I specialize in destination weddings, elopements, and intimate celebrations in Costa Rica, and I help guide you through timelines, logistics, and location decisions so the day feels relaxed and realistic.
How would you describe your photography style?
My style is documentary and candid, with an editorial eye. I focus on real moments as they happen, laughter, emotion, movement, and connection, while also creating natural portraits that reflect Costa Rica’s landscapes without feeling staged or forced.
We’re not comfortable in front of the camera. Is that a problem?
Not at all. Most couples tell me they’re camera-shy. I guide you just enough so nothing feels awkward, while giving you space to be yourselves. You don’t need to know how to pose or what to do, your only job is to be present.
Do you still take family and group photos?
Yes. We’ll capture all the important family and group portraits efficiently and naturally, then move on so you can enjoy your wedding instead of spending it posing.
What kinds of weddings do you photograph?
Everything from two-person elopements to full destination weddings with 100+ guests. Whether it’s a quiet ceremony or a multi-day celebration, I approach each wedding with the same attention and care.
What’s included in your Costa Rica wedding photography packages?
All collections include planning support, timeline guidance, and location advice based on your region and season. Packages are built around how weddings actually happen in Costa Rica, not rigid hourly formulas.
You’ll find full pricing and package details listed transparently on the website.
Do you also offer videography or reels?
Yes. Selected collections include short highlight films and social-friendly reels, edited in the same storytelling style as my photography. I also offer combined photography and videography coverage for couples who want a cohesive visual story.
How far in advance should we book?
Most couples book 9 to 15 months in advance, especially for dry season dates between December and April. That said, last-minute availability does happen, so it’s always worth reaching out.
How fast will you respond if we contact you?
Within 24 hours, often sooner. Once you reach out, we’ll talk through availability, your plans, and whether we’re the right fit.
How do we officially book you?
A signed contract and a 30% retainer secure your date. From there, I help you plan a photography timeline that works with light, logistics, and location.
What payment methods do you accept?
Bank transfer, Wise, PayPal, or cash. Payment plans are available for destination weddings.
When and how will we receive our photos?
You’ll receive a private online gallery with full download access and print rights.
Full galleries are delivered within 2 to 3 weeks, and films within 4 to 6 weeks. You’ll also receive a sneak peek within 72 hours after your wedding.
What happens if it rains or plans change?
Costa Rica weather changes fast, and I’m always prepared. I carry backup gear, scout covered options, and adapt timelines so the story continues naturally. Rain doesn’t stop meaningful moments here.
Do you help with planning and timelines?
Yes. Helping couples build realistic timelines around light, travel, and locations is a core part of my role. This is especially important for destination weddings in Costa Rica.
Do you offer sustainable wedding photography?
Yes. I work with eco-friendly album partners, deliver digitally, keep equipment long-term, and plant a tree for every full Destination Journey package booked. Sustainability matters here, and it’s something I take seriously.
Do you speak English and Spanish?
Yes, fluently. Most of my couples are from the US, Canada, the UK, and Europe, so communication before and during your wedding is always smooth. I also speak some Catalan, French, and German.
Ready to Talk About Your Wedding in Costa Rica?
If you’re planning a wedding or elopement in Costa Rica and want it documented honestly, without rushing or performance, I’d love to hear what you’re envisioning. Whether you already have a date and location or you’re still figuring out what feels right, the first step is simply a conversation.
Tell me a bit about you, your plans, and what matters most to you. I’ll let you know if I’m available and how we could work together in a way that feels natural and easy.
No pressure, no expectations. Just a clear, human starting point.
