Costa Rica Elopement Photographer
For couples who want a relaxed, meaningful elopement in Costa Rica, without pressure, timelines, or performance.
Half-day and full-day experiences, fully transparent pricing
I’m Christopher Alga, a Costa Rica–based elopement photographer helping couples plan and document intentional, experience-driven elopements across beaches, jungles, waterfalls, and remote landscapes.
HYBRID DIGITAL & FILM PHOTOGRAPHY
I photograph weddings using a hybrid of digital and 35mm / medium format film.
Digital captures the pace of the day as it unfolds, while film adds depth, texture, and a timeless quality to the moments that matter most.
What an Elopement in Costa Rica Actually Feels Like
Eloping in Costa Rica isn’t about escaping a traditional wedding.
It’s about choosing something more honest, more intentional, and more your own.
Most couples I work with aren’t looking for a production.
They’re looking for space. Space to be present, to move freely, and to experience the day without pressure.
That might look like:
- Barefoot vows on a quiet beach at sunrise
- A private ceremony deep in the rainforest
- A slow day exploring multiple locations, without rushing
There’s no rigid structure.
The day adapts to the light, the weather, and how you feel.
Because of that, elopements here aren’t built around hours.
They’re built around experiences.
Most elopements in Costa Rica fall into two simple approaches:
- Half-day experience: simple, focused, one meaningful location
- Full-day experience: slower pace, multiple locations, more space to explore
Both are designed to feel unhurried, flexible, and true to you.

Costa Rica doesn’t just offer stunning backdrops; it offers transformation. The moment you arrive, “pura vida” becomes more than a greeting, it becomes the foundation of your marriage story.
Where I Photograph Elopements in Costa Rica
Costa Rica may look small on a map, but each region offers a completely different experience.
Light, weather, accessibility, and travel times all shape how your elopement day actually unfolds.
As a Costa Rica elopement photographer, I work across the country and help couples choose locations that are not only beautiful, but realistic based on season and conditions
Some of the places I regularly photograph elopements:
- Guanacaste – dry tropical beaches, warm sunsets, easy access
- Manuel Antonio – jungle meets ocean, lush and vibrant
- Santa Teresa & Nosara – relaxed beach towns with a slower pace
- La Fortuna & Arenal – volcano views, waterfalls, rainforest landscapes
- Monteverde – cloud forest, cooler climate, more secluded feel
- Central Valley & surrounding mountains – scenic views closer to San José
Each location works differently depending on what you want your day to feel like.
Some are ideal for a simple beach ceremony.
Others work better for more immersive, nature-focused experiences.
Planning an elopement here isn’t just about choosing a красив place.
It’s about choosing a place that actually works for your day.
That’s where local experience matters.

How Elopements Are Structured
Every elopement is different, but most Costa Rica elopements fall into one of two approaches depending on how you want the day to feel.
Half-day elopements
Simple, focused, and centered around one meaningful location.
- Ideal for sunrise or sunset ceremonies
- Enough time for getting ready, vows, and portraits
- A relaxed experience without overextending the day
Full-day elopements
Slower, more flexible, and built around the full experience.
- Time for multiple locations and moments
- Space to explore beaches, jungle, or waterfalls
- A day that unfolds naturally from start to finish
Both options are designed without rigid schedules, allowing space for real moments instead of fixed timelines.

Working with a Costa Rica elopement photographer
My role starts with photography, but it doesn’t end there.
Most couples I work with are planning their elopement from abroad, often without a clear idea of locations, timing, or how the day will actually come together. My job is to make that process feel simple and grounded.
What that looks like in practice:
- Location guidance based on your vision, season, and accessibility
- Timing recommendations built around real light and conditions
- Flexible timelines that allow the day to unfold naturally
- A calm, unobtrusive presence so you can stay focused on each other
I don’t direct your day or turn it into a production.
I guide when needed, then step back so real moments can happen without interruption.
Most couples tell me they felt comfortable within minutes, and that they were able to be fully present without thinking about the camera.
That’s always the goal.
You don’t need to have everything figured out before reaching out.
We shape the experience together based on what feels right for you.

Why couples choose to elope with me in Costa Rica
Planning an Elopement in Costa Rica From Abroad
Most couples planning an elopement in Costa Rica are doing it from another country, often without a clear sense of locations, travel times, or how the day will actually unfold.
That’s completely normal.
This is where working with someone local makes a difference:
- Real location guidance based on season, light, and accessibility
- Honest recommendations about what works and what doesn’t
- Timelines that adapt to weather, travel, and real conditions
- Clarity from the start, so you’re not guessing as you plan
Costa Rica isn’t difficult to plan, but it is different.
Distances are longer than they look.
Weather changes quickly.
Light behaves differently depending on the region.
Having that context early allows your elopement to feel simple instead of uncertain.
I’m based in Costa Rica and document elopements across beaches, jungles, mountains, and remote locations throughout the year.
My role is to help you navigate all of that while keeping the experience calm and focused on what actually matters.
