Meaningful moments
Find yourselves here.
Different places create different kinds of days. Some couples want one beautiful place and nowhere else to be. Others want to move through the landscape and let the day keep unfolding. There isn't one correct way to elope in Costa Rica.
The two of you + one beautiful place
The day that keeps unfolding
The adventure
The two-day escape
Day two: hike · waterfall · swim
Your elopement doesn't need to happen in one place.
A full day gives us time to actually experience a region instead of arriving somewhere, taking photographs and leaving. This is one example of how a Costa Rica elopement could unfold. Your route is built around one realistic region, the season, access, light and the pace you want.
You imagine it. We make it possible.
You don't need to figure it all out on your own. Tell me what you're drawn to and how you want the day to feel. From there we connect the pieces.
Local knowledge
What's possible based on distance, access, weather, tides and light.
Planning
We shape the route and timeline around what you want to experience.
People

Getting there
Transportation and logistics are considered before the day so you can simply enjoy it.
How much of the experience do you want to keep?
The full-day collections are built for couples who want time to actually experience Costa Rica, not spend the day racing through a photography schedule. The half-day option is intentionally simpler: one meaningful place, a focused timeline, and enough time to get married without rushing.
More time. More of the experience.
Choose between one place, two landscapes, or a two-day journey depending on how much of Costa Rica you want the elopement to hold.
A focused experience for one meaningful place.
For couples who want the essentials without committing to a full-day adventure.

Costa Rican Wanderlust
They started the morning surrounded by rainforest. By late afternoon, they were barefoot on the coast, watching the light change over the Pacific. The distance between those two places became part of the adventure.
The Costa Rican Wanderlust gives you a full day across two locations, allowing your elopement to feel like a small journey through Costa Rica rather than a ceremony confined to one setting.

The Grand Tour
On the first morning, the mountains were hidden in mist. By the following evening they were standing on the Pacific coast, watching the sun disappear into the ocean. Somewhere between the two, they stopped thinking about the photographs and simply started enjoying the trip.
The Grand Tour is the most immersive elopement experience. Instead of trying to fit everything into one day, we give the story room to breathe across two days and multiple landscapes.

I won't turn your elopement into a photoshoot.
I'm Christopher Alga, the photographer behind Crissorama. I've photographed weddings and elopements for more than 18 years, much of that time here in Costa Rica. My approach comes from documentary photography: paying attention, anticipating what is happening and knowing when not to interfere.
I'll give you direction when it helps. Then I'll get out of the way. Because the photographs matter, but so does how you remember being there.
About Christopher →You do not need everything figured out.
Most couples contact me while they are still deciding where, how long and what kind of day they want. That is a good time to start.
Do you help us choose where to elope?
Yes. A date range, a landscape you love or even just a feeling is enough to begin. I help narrow locations based on season, access, light, weather and the kind of experience you want.
Half-day or full-day?
Choose a half-day when one meaningful place and the ceremony are the heart of the experience. Choose a full day when you want more room for people, travel, exploration, a meal, changing light or simply a slower pace.
What happens if it rains?
Rain is part of Costa Rica, especially in green season. I build flexibility into the timeline and help you plan realistic backup options so the day can adapt instead of falling apart.
Can family or friends come?
Absolutely. The right location and flow simply change depending on whether it is just the two of you or a small group.
Can we visit more than one location?
Yes, when the route makes geographic sense. I would rather build one strong regional experience than spend half the day crossing the country in a car.
Are permits included?
I help with permit guidance and coordination where required. Any official park, venue or government fees are discussed before you commit so there are no surprises.
What if we feel awkward in front of the camera?
Most couples do at first. I give direction when it helps and step back once the moment is already working, so you can stop thinking about the camera.
Do we need to plan everything before reaching out?
No. Most couples reach out early. The location, route and timing are easier to shape together before too many decisions are locked in.

You don't need an itinerary. You don't need to know which waterfall, beach or volcano yet. Send me your date, how many people might be there and what you imagine doing if nobody else got to decide what a wedding day should look like.

I’m Christopher Alga, a Costa Rica elopement photographer helping couples plan and document intentional, experience-driven elopements across beaches, jungles, waterfalls, and remote landscapes.
HYBRID DIGITAL & FILM PHOTOGRAPHY
I photograph weddings using a hybrid of digital and 35mm / medium format film.
Digital captures the pace of the day as it unfolds, while film adds depth, texture, and a timeless quality to the moments that matter most.
SELECTED ELOPEMENT WORK
Not a backdrop. A place you actually lived in.
Beaches, rainforest, waterfalls and cloud forest, photographed as part of the experience rather than scenery arranged around it.
What an Elopement in Costa Rica Actually Feels Like
Eloping in Costa Rica isn’t about escaping a traditional wedding.
It’s about choosing something more honest, more intentional, and more your own.
Most couples I work with aren’t looking for a production.
They’re looking for space. Space to be present, to move freely, and to experience the day without pressure.
That might look like:
- Barefoot vows on a quiet beach at sunrise
- A private ceremony deep in the rainforest
- A slow day exploring multiple locations, without rushing
There’s no rigid structure.
The day adapts to the light, the weather, and how you feel.
Because of that, elopements here aren’t built around hours.
They’re built around experiences.
Costa Rica doesn’t just offer stunning backdrops; it offers transformation. The moment you arrive, “pura vida” becomes more than a greeting, it becomes the foundation of your marriage story.
Most elopements in Costa Rica fall into two simple approaches:
- Half-day experience: simple, focused, one meaningful location
- Full-day experience: slower pace, multiple locations, more space to explore
Both are designed to feel unhurried, flexible, and true to you.

Where I Photograph Elopements in Costa Rica
Costa Rica may look small on a map, but each region offers a completely different experience.
Light, weather, accessibility, and travel times all shape how your elopement day actually unfolds.
As a Costa Rica elopement photographer, I work across the country and help couples choose locations that are not only beautiful, but realistic based on season and conditions
Some of the places I regularly photograph elopements:
- Guanacaste – dry tropical beaches, warm sunsets, easy access
- Manuel Antonio – jungle meets ocean, lush and vibrant
- Santa Teresa & Nosara – relaxed beach towns with a slower pace
- La Fortuna & Arenal – volcano views, waterfalls, rainforest landscapes
- Monteverde – cloud forest, cooler climate, more secluded feel
- Central Valley & surrounding mountains – scenic views closer to San José
Each location works differently depending on what you want your day to feel like.
Some are ideal for a simple beach ceremony.
Others work better for more immersive, nature-focused experiences.
Planning an elopement here isn’t just about choosing a beautiful place.
It’s about choosing a place that actually works for your day.
That’s where local experience matters.

How Elopements Are Structured
Every elopement is different, but most Costa Rica elopements fall into one of two approaches depending on how you want the day to feel.
Half-day elopements
Simple, focused, and centered around one meaningful location.
- Ideal for sunrise or sunset ceremonies
- Enough time for getting ready, vows, and portraits
- A relaxed experience without overextending the day
Full-day elopements
Slower, more flexible, and built around the full experience.
- Time for multiple locations and moments
- Space to explore beaches, jungle, or waterfalls
- A day that unfolds naturally from start to finish
Both options are designed without rigid schedules, allowing space for real moments instead of fixed timelines.

Working with a Costa Rica elopement photographer
Why couples choose to elope with me in Costa Rica
My role starts with photography, but it doesn’t end there.
Most couples I work with are planning their elopement from abroad, often without a clear idea of locations, timing, or how the day will actually come together. My job is to make that process feel simple and grounded.
What that looks like in practice:
- Location guidance based on your vision, season, and accessibility
- Timing recommendations built around real light and conditions
- Flexible timelines that allow the day to unfold naturally
- A calm, unobtrusive presence so you can stay focused on each other
I don’t direct your day or turn it into a production.
I guide when needed, then step back so real moments can happen without interruption.
Most couples tell me they felt comfortable within minutes, and that they were able to be fully present without thinking about the camera.
That’s always the goal.
You don’t need to have everything figured out before reaching out.
We shape the experience together based on what feels right for you.

Planning an Elopement in Costa Rica From Abroad
Most couples planning an elopement in Costa Rica are doing it from another country, often without a clear sense of locations, travel times, or how the day will actually unfold.
That’s completely normal.
This is where working with someone local makes a difference:
- Real location guidance based on season, light, and accessibility
- Honest recommendations about what works and what doesn’t
- Timelines that adapt to weather, travel, and real conditions
- Clarity from the start, so you’re not guessing as you plan
Costa Rica isn’t difficult to plan, but it is different.
Distances are longer than they look.
Weather changes quickly.
Light behaves differently depending on the region.
Having that context early allows your elopement to feel simple instead of uncertain.
I’m based in Costa Rica and document elopements across beaches, jungles, mountains, and remote locations throughout the year.
My role is to help you navigate all of that while keeping the experience calm and focused on what actually matters.
