Real Moments, Real Memories
Wedding Stories Costa Rica
Discover authentic wedding stories in Costa Rica captured through a humanistic and documentary lens. Each gallery shares a couple’s full wedding day, told in honest photographs and words.
Love, People & Places
At the heart of my work lies the belief that photography is more than images, it is a way of telling stories. With weddings, this becomes especially meaningful. A wedding is not only a ceremony or a celebration, but an unfolding narrative: of love, family, friendship, place, and all the moments in between. This page gathers real wedding stories in Costa Rica, each one documented with honesty and care, to preserve not just how a day looked, but how it truly felt.
As a documentary photographer with more than 18 years of experience, I approach wedding stories with the same humanistic perspective that guides all of my work. My style is rooted in naturalness, simplicity, and spontaneity. I look for the beauty in gestures, the quiet exchanges, the unexpected laughter, the details that reveal a couple’s personality and the uniqueness of their celebration. For me, wedding photography is not about staging perfection, but about finding meaning in authentic moments.
Explore Wedding Stories
This page is an invitation to dive deeper into the weddings I’ve documented. Each couple’s story is unique, yet together they reveal something universal about love and human connection. Browse through the galleries, step inside these wedding stories, and see what wedding photography can become when it goes beyond appearances to honor the true essence of the day.
This is one of those weddings that really make my heart beat. Since they contacted me and we had our consultation call I know we were the right fit. As I mention before in my blog, I have been very lucky(or intentionally cultivated) customers that will perfectly be my friends in other circumstances, and this time was not the exception. When you like somebody , their vibe, gestures, voice, humor, etc; your life becomes easier and working on weddings is a pleasure with that feeling of nice energy and be surrounded by just nice people.
Before their wedding, I had 2 or 3 weddings of people in their late 30s and early 40s, so Alyse and Daniel brought back to me little doses of crazy, wild, young love. It definitely makes a difference, and you can notice in tangible things like the food they choose, the drinks, decoration details and also their wedding outfit.
But there’s also an intangible factor, like a feeling in the air, these are the years when everything feels possible and nothing feels certain. The way hearts beat a little faster with each new opportunity, each potential love story, each career pivot that might just be “the one”. But on their wedding day, all that searching was over, this day was about celebrating the one person who truly was their everything: significant other, colleague, lover and Huckleberry friend.
I can say many things about that day, how the weather was changing, how the cat got into the wedding dress at the ceremony, how the Arenal Volcano showed himself that day after nobody had seen it for days, how we followed the timeline like a Swiss clock while keeping the spontaneity.
But the only thing I want to say to finish this text is this: That day, Alyse & Daniel’s wedding day, something changed for me, not dramatically, more like the way light changes from afternoon to evening, gradually but unmistakably. I understood that love became less about finding someone to complete you and more about choosing someone to complement the person you’ve become.
More Than a Collection of Pictures
Each wedding tells a story waiting to be discovered. It begins with anticipation, continues through vows, music, and rituals, and flows into the celebrations that follow. But the real story often lives in the in-between: a glance between parents, friends’ emotions during the ceremony, the energy of a dance floor, or the intimacy of a couple stepping aside to share a quiet moment.
My goal is to capture weddings as lived experiences. Rather than presenting only a highlight reel, I create full wedding galleries that allow couples to revisit the day in all its dimensions, grand and subtle, joyful and emotional. These images are not only memories, but also fragments of identity and belonging, pieces of a narrative that can be relived and shared for generations. This is what turns photographs into wedding stories.
Real Couples, Real Wedding Stories
In this section, you’ll find a collection of complete wedding stories. Each gallery follows one couple through the flow of their day, from the preparations to the final celebrations. Alongside the photographs, I share a written narrative that gives context: how the couple met, why they chose their venue, what details made their wedding personal, and what emotions defined the day.
By weaving together images and words, each wedding becomes more than a visual record, it becomes a story of people and place. Some are intimate gatherings by the ocean, others are grand celebrations in tropical gardens, mountain villas, or historic estates. But in every case, the photographs aim to show weddings not as staged productions, but as authentic human experiences.
When I was contacted by Andrea, I didn’t have a clue that I would end up taking a boat for the wedding ceremony, but It happened. Andrea and Edward had a really simple plan, come to Costa Rica, get married in a nice beach and have a great time with friends and family.
At the beginning they looked like confident people – they came across as secure, mature and very focused. They were very good looking and had a je ne sais quoi style. We had our meeting before the wedding and things were good. Easy talking and setting everything up for the wedding day went smoothly.
During this meeting I realized they were in a great stage of their life. The confidence that comes from self-knowledge, the peace that follows from making conscious choices, and the particular joy of building something lasting rather than constantly starting over.
On the wedding day everything started as always. I got there, said hi, presented myself to everybody and proceeded to capture their wedding day. Getting ready was beautiful, very intimate and still, nothing out of the box.
After the first look, we gathered by the pool at the Conchal Hotel, to organize and move to the ceremony place and they came to me and said “ We are going to this bar to wait for the right time to take the boat to the ceremony place”, and this is when the adventure started.
We went to a local bar, very very local, not a bit touristy, nothing like that. We waited in this old building alongside with local folks, so I took advantage of the situation and suggested some pictures.
This is the moment I realized the adventurous soul and unscripted energy this couple had. We played around the place and captured the local vibe so they can remember this experience and tell their kids in the future. This dynamic continued the rest of the wedding, we took the crazy boat ride to Conchal Beach, we laughed and had fun, and finally at the best hour of the afternoon, we went for an amazing photoshoot.
One of the most beautiful beaches in the world, all to ourselves, with golden hour at its peak and a delicate hint of magenta in the sky, and a couple of lovers who had just said yes for the rest of their lives. Here you can see the result of that combination. At the end of the day when I left them to finish their party I just looked back and said “wow, what a ride!”
My Approach to Wedding Stories
What sets these wedding stories apart is intention. I work with discretion, blending into the rhythm of the day so that moments can unfold naturally. My presence is quiet, but attentive, allowing me to capture both the visible and the invisible: the atmosphere, the emotions, the energy of the place.
I do not chase perfection. Instead, I embrace ambiguity, spontaneity, and depth. A wedding day is complex, it carries joy, tension, anticipation, and release, and I strive to capture all of it. This approach creates images that are not only beautiful, but meaningful: photographs that invite reflection and connection long after the celebration is over.
